TIMERGARA, March 29: The unusual movement of army and police personnel and their deployment at various strategic locations in Lower Dir on Saturday created panic among the people of the area, Dawn has learnt.

Troops along with police took positions at the Khazana bypass and the Zulam bridge at 2pm. Heavily armed, the security personnel were on red alert. They blocked roads leading to the Bajaur Agency. Routine transport was also disrupted by erecting barricades at the Khazana bypass near Timergara.

Strict security measures and thorough check of passersby were witnessed. Local people feared a military operation in the area.

However, an army commander told Dawn that it was a routine rehearsal of the troops and there was nothing to worry about.
