Workers’ protest

TOBA TEK SINGH, March 28: Hundreds of powerloom workers on Friday staged a protest demonstration in Kamalia over alleged torture of a worker by his employer.

The protesting workers reached the Kamalia Press Club and raised slogans against the factory owner. Speaking on the occasion, Powerloom Workers Association President Sheikh Nazir Ahmad alleged that a factory owner manhandled worker Imran over a monetary issue. He demanded a case against the factory owner.

THREE KILLED: Three people were killed and four others injured in two road accidents here on Friday. A car collided with a bus on Gojra-Dijkot Road. As a result, Umair Toqeer of Samundri and Mohsin Manzoor of Gojra died at the scene, while Qaiser Rehman, Shabbir Asghar and Zahid Iqbal of Gojra were injured seriously. The injured were admitted to Gojra tehsil hospital.

The victims were going to attend a marriage ceremony.

In another accident, a speeding car going to Kamalia from Faisalabad overturned on Rajana-Samundri Road. As a result, Sumera of Faisalabad died at the scene. The car driver was injured seriously.—Correspondent
