HYDERABAD, March 28: A PPP activist was shot at and injured in Liaquat Colony late Thursday night and counter cases were lodged by PPP and MQM activists at Sakhi Pir police station following the incident.

Shahid Narnoli received bullet injuries in his arm and was operated upon in the Civil Hospital. He blamed Fareed for firing on him. His condition is stated to be out of danger.

According to SHO Sakhi Pir police station Rao Nazim, a case had been lodged against MQM activist Fareed. A non-cognisable offence had also been lodged on the complaint of Fareed as well.

Police sources said tension prevailed in the area following the incident as supporters of Narnoli surrounded the house of Fareed who was rescued by police.

A source said that a personal dispute involving a girl existed between Shahid and Fareed and Thursday’s incident also took place in that backdrop.

Incidents of aerial firing outside the residences of two activists were also reported during and after general elections. However no casualty was reported then.
