SIALKOT, March 26: Sri Lankan eye specialists have announced establishing an eye bank in Sialkot for providing free of cost eye medical treatment, including the transplantation of cornea, to local patients.

Sri Lankan eye-specialist A.P.S. Abi Suriya said this after opening a free cornea transplantation camp at Aleem Welfare Hospital on Wednesday. Dr Donald, Dr Humayun Sheikh and local doctors were also present.

Dr Suriya said the proposed eye bank would be functional by Dec 2008 and Sri Lankan donors would donate corneas to the bank. He said it would be a great facility for eye patients.
