NAUSHAHRO FEROZE, March 26: A student of class-X, set himself ablaze by sprinkling kerosene oil on his body here on Wednesday after being reprimanded by his father.

Zeeshan 16, student of class-X, resident of Bhanur village, was brought to taluka hospital Kandiaro with serious burn injuries.

Later, he was referred to Nawabshah Medical College Hospital due to lack of facilities at the taluka hospital to treat patients with burn injuries.

AWARDS: Ninety-four primary teachers from the district were awarded for their best performance at a meeting held here in community hall on Wednesday. DCO Ashfaq Hussain Umrani distributed appreciation awards to them for their performance.

DCO said that appreciation would encourage teachers and said that funds for awards have been allocated in the annual budget.

He said it was first time that cash awards were being given to the teachers.

He said that the departmental promotion committee meeting would be called within a week and teachers be promoted on seniority basis.

EDO education, Rasool Bux Shah, EDO finance, Miandad Rahujo, district officers and

other officials attended the meeting.

DRUGS: The excise police recovered 200kg charas from cement bags loaded in a Karachi-bound trailer.

Barkat Khan, resident of Khyber and Shahid Khan, resident of Hangu, were arrested.
