ISLAMABAD, March 24: The Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) has condemned the sacking of a number of flight engineers by the Pakistan International Airline and its decision to ground six Boeing 747-367s and two Boeing 747-240 Combi aircraft without any technical justification.

PPP Information Secretary Sherry Rehman said: “The situation in PIA has gone from bad to worse … The airline retrenched 80 flight engineers without any justification at a time when the airline is being singled out in the international circles for … technical faults found in its aircraft. Furthermore, its decision to ground eight Boeing 747s … will obviously reduce PIA’s revenue and cash flow,” She said in a statement here on Monday.
