SHIKARPUR, March 24: Two Jatoi tribesmen were killed late on Sunday when their rival Mahar’s tribesmen allegedly opened fire on their house in Tarrat Jatoi village from a moving train. It is said that the attack seems to be in retaliation to the few hours earlier killing of a Mahar tribesman in Shikarpur city.

Two men from the Jatoi tribe identified as Loheero and Barkat were injured when their rivals Mahar clans men opened fire from the train. Reports said that a group of Mahar clans men boarded Rohri bound Shahbaz passenger train from Ruk station. When the train reached near railway crossing the armed men opened fire on Tarrat Jatoi village from the train as a result of which two persons were injured.

The culprits escaped when train stopped at Larkana railway crossing near Lakhi.

The passenger train was stopped at the railway crossing and the railway line was disturbed till the filing of this report. The Sukkur Express was detained at Jacobabad railway station while the Khushhal Khan Khattak Express was stopped at Habibkot and the Pindi Express was also stopped at Shikarpur railway station and were awaiting till railway lines were cleared.

The district police Shikarpur and the railway police reached at the spot and started search for culprits.

Earlier, one person was shot dead by armed men near Lakhi-Gate police station here on Sunday.

Saeed Mahar, 30, resident of village Sher Kot presently residing in Bhutta Mohalla Shikarpur was killed when three armed men opened fire at him.

The culprits escaped on their motorcycle. The body was handed over to relatives after post mortem. No FIR was registered till filing this report.

Later, the relatives of deceased Saeed Ahmed Mahar and citizens staged a demonstration and blocked the city roads at Lakhi-Gate Tower Chowk here on Sunday evening to protest against the murder of Saeed Mahar.

According to relatives of the deceased that Jatoi tribesmen were involved in the murder of Saeed. The protesters dispersed when police held assurance about the arrest of the accused.
