Demand for teaching allowance

Published March 19, 2008

KHAIRPUR, March 18: The Primary Teachers Association, Khairpur chapter, at a meeting held on Tuesday deplored that the teachers of three provinces were getting the teaching allowance regularly while in Sindh they were deprived of it.

The meeting was presided over by Khair Mohammad Soomro.

They demanded payment of the allowance to teachers in Sindh. The meeting also demanded of the Sindh government to reinstate the large number of teachers who had been sent on forced leave.

POWER OUTAGE: A long electricity breakdown in Khairpur and its adjoining towns paralysed the daily life here on Tuesday.

The ten-hour electricity breakdown at the start of summer made lives of students and children miserable. The educational centres, including coaching centres, functioning in evening could not conduct their classes. The work in government and private offices was also affected.
