ISLAMABAD, April 17: The Capital Development Authority (CDA), has decided to acquire the assistance of a private firm for the construction of four main bridges on Islamabad Highway.

The Nespak, a local construction company, will provide engineers for the construction of bridges.

The decision was taken at a meeting, which was presided over by the CDA chairman here on Wednesday.

To a question regarding the terms and conditions of the contract and the total cost to be paid to the company, a senior CDA official said the modalities of the contract had not been finalized so far.

He said the CDA engineers would also assist the contractor in the construction work.

Later, the meeting decided to pay Rs100,000 to the legal heirs of those employees of the Authority whose death would be occurred during the service. Earlier, no funds were fixed for this purpose.

The CDA chairman directed the official concerned to prepare a report regarding provision of jobs to the family members of the deceased employees, sources said.

The sources added that the chairman also ordered to provide housing facility to the CDA employees giving them loans for the construction of houses.

“He also ordered for the payment of outstanding dues of Rs1.00 million to the Pakistan Telecommunication Company Limited (PTCL).”

The sources said the meeting was informed that the PTCL had cut some eight important telephone connections of the Authority’s services wing four years ago for non-payment of bills. The meeting also decided that Machine Pool Organisation (MPO), a directorate of the Authority, will provide machinery to the contractors for development projects, the sources said.
