Four die as roof caves in

JHANG, March 12: A woman and her three children died while her husband was injured when the roof of the room they were sleeping in collapsed in Chak 20, Ghagh, 10 kilometre away from Shorkot, on Tuesday night.

The family of a labourer, Muhammad Sharif, were asleep in a room when the roof caved in at around midnight, burying the family under the debris.

Sharif’s wife Shahnaz and their three children, six-year-old Roshan, four-year-old Fazal and three-year-old Nagina, died on the spot, while Sharif received severe injuries and was hospitalised.case: The Kotwali police have registered a case against Saddar station house officer (SHO) and 10 others on the directives of a local additional sessions judge (ASJ) for torturing and keeping a woman in illegal confinement.

Bilqis Akhtar moved the court complaining that SHO Inspector Sajjad Ahmed, sub-inspectors Shaukat Ali, Zafar Ali and Amjad Hussain, head-constable Pervez, constable Afzal and five people took her to Saddar police station, tortured her and later kept her in illegal confinement.

ASJ Mian Anwar Nazir accepted the petition and ordered registration of case against the SHO and 10 others on which the Kotwali police registered FIR No 178/2008 to comply with court directives.
