NAUSHAHRO FEROZE, March 11: A farmer was killed over a dispute which emerged over irrigation water share near Naban Khan Lakho village in the Lakha Road area late Monday night.

Rafique Lakho was irrigating his lands while his relative Mumtaz Ali Lakho was waiting for his turn, who reminded Rafique that time for his share of water had ended, therefore, he was going to open water for irrigating his lands.

Rafique resisted the move and opened fire on Mumtaz who received serious injuries. He was brought to Civil Hospital Naushahro Feroze where he succumbed to injuries.

Lakha road police lodged an FIR against Rafique on the complaint of Mohammad Aachar Lakho, brother of the deceased.

POWER DISCONNECTION: A large number of power consumers of Tharushah staged a demonstration outside the Hesco office and the police station on Tuesday who condemned disconnection drive of Hesco. They belonged to Hussain Kalhoro Village. Later, they went to Bhirya town and held a demonstration outside the press club.

They complained that power supply to their village was severed about one month ago on the plea that a large number of consumers had not paid their dues. The villagers refuted Hesco’s claim and said that only a few of the villagers were defaulters while Hesco penalised almost every consumer.

Some of the consumers put paid bills before the Hesco officials with a request to restore power. The Hesco officials, however, attacked and injured them. They approached Tharushah police which refused to lodge an FIR against Hesco men.

When contacted, WHC of Tharushah police station said that no one had approached us to lodge the complaint.

ROBBERY: Four armed men looted 12 mobile phones and cash from several people including Zafar Umrani, Nazakat, Imamuddin Gohar and Shahid Bughio when they were on their way to their villages on Mari link road on Monday night. No FIR was lodged till the filing of this report.
