NOWSHERA, March 9: The tripartite commission has finalised modalities for Afghan refugees to vacate Jalozai camp by April 15 this year.

Afghan Commissionerate officials told journalists at a briefing in Jalozao camp on Sunday that the jirga of Afghan refugees at Nawababad camp bore fruit and they agreed to vacate the camp till April 15, 2008. However, a jirga of 52 Afghan commanders will be convened on Monday to decide future line of action regarding the evacuation process.

The government has yet to stop food, water and power supply to the refugees at the Jalozai camp despite the fixation of final date of their repatriation.

The officials said that the process was going on in accordance with the agreement reached in the meeting of tripartite commission comprising Pakistan, Afghanistan and UNHCR.

They said hundreds of illegal shops and unregistered mud houses had been built on the bank of the Jalozai River.
