SHEIKHUPURA, March 7: Yet another no-trust motion against District Nazim Sahibzada Mian Jalil Ahmed Sharaqpuri in less than a week time failed on Friday after the opposition could not muster two-third majority required to overthrow the incumbent.

Earlier, a no-trust motion against Jalil Sharqpuri had failed on Monday (March 3).

On a requisition moved by the opposition to table the no-trust motion, Naib District Nazim Malik Rehmat Dogar, who is convener of the district council, had convened the house to meet at 3pm on Friday. However, a few opposition members led by Rana Abbas turned up by 3:45pm while their remaining colleagues did not show up.

The convener ordered chiming of bells thrice but no more opposition members entered their appearance on which Dogar prorogued the house.

The adjournment announcement prompted opposition members to immediately resorting to an uproar. They started chanting slogans against district nazim while alleging that he had plundered the district government exchequer.

Talking to reporters, Rana Abbas said that no-trust motion against district nazim would succeed during the very next session of the council whenever convened. He said the district nazim was using various tactics to avoid no-trust motion.

Jalil Sharqpuri, who preferred sitting in his office instead of attending the session, said that those who had made tall claims of having two-thirds majority had failed second time consecutively within a week.
