National rugby championship

LAHORE, March 6: Some 16 teams, comprising seven players each, belonging to different departments, provinces and educational institutions of the country will be taking part in the 17th national rugby championship to be played here at the DHA Stadium from March 9.

Defending champions Punjab and Army are the hot favourites for the title with Islamabad, Police and Central Punjab as the other prominent teams. There will be 24 group matches and the top team in each pool will qualify for the semis.—Sports Reporter
