MIRPURKHAS, March 5: District Nazim Dr Sughra Junejo has directed the officers of the education department to take steps to make the closed schools operational and also solve the problems of different schools with the help of UC nazims.
Presiding over a meeting of officers of education department and UC nazims to discuss problems of schools here on Wednesday, she said that the district government was making efforts for promotion of quality education and providing necessary facilities to the educational institutions.
Briefing the meeting participants, DCO Syed Mumtaz Ali Shah said that Rs32 million on account of school management fund was received during last year of which Rs22 million were released to primary schools while remaining amount would be released to middle and high schools with the permission of government.
He said that SNE of Rs25 million for primary and Rs14 million for middle schools had been prepared which would be submitted to the government for approval.
EDO education Jaleel Ahmed Lashari told the meeting that 142 girls and boys primary schools were lying closed which would be opened with the cooperation of the district government and UNICEF.
He informed the meeting that about 150,000 children were getting education in 2,035 primary, 115 middle and 79 high schools of the district.
GUTKA: The nazim on Tuesday directed the authorities concerned to launch a crackdown against those involved in business of Gutka and Mainpuri.
She was presiding over a meeting which was attended by DCO Syed Mumtaz Ali Shah, taluka and UC nazims, police, health and education officers.
According to a handout, the district nazim said that she had received complaints that Gutka and Mainpuri were being sold in educational institutions and we all have to play our role to save youths and children from these intoxicated things.
