NAUSHAHRO FEROZE, March 5: A large number of residents of Tharushah staged a demonstration on Tuesday against the Sui Southern Gas Company for delaying provision domestic gas connections despite completion of requirements.

The protesters complained that over 300 people had deposited connection and meter fees about three months ago but they were not provided with connection. They alleged that those who had influence or had greased palm of the officials through contractors, were given priority.

They said SSGC officials and contractors had assured them before the provincial ombudsman that connections would be provided after general elections.

They said that they were in constant touch with the Sui Southern Gas Company officials who were delaying their cases on false hopes.

When contacted, the zonal manager of the SSGC, Arz Mohammad Larik, said that company’s Nawabshah office was changing the schedule of handing over of meters and other material hence “we are unable to provide new connections”.
