GUJRANWALA, March 4: Four people were shot dead and another two were injured over a land dispute by their rivals in Alipur Chattha on Tuesday.
Reports reaching here said that litigation was going on between Rana Muhammad Akram and Irshadullah. On Tuesday, Irshadullah and his five accomplices came to the outhouse of their rivals and opened fire on them. Consequently, Akram, Iqbal, Umer and Bilal died on the spot while Asgher, son of Siddique, and Asgher, son of Bashir, sustained injuries. The assailants later escaped while firing in the air. Police shifted the bodies to the DHQ Hospital, Wazirabad.
Police have registered a case against the accused.
RALLY: Doctors, paramedical staff of the DHQ Hospital and the Pakistan Medical Association (PMA) on Tuesday took out a protest rally against the publication of sacrilegious caricatures by Danish newspapers.
The rally, led by executive district officer (health) Dr Nisar Ahmad Cheema, Dr Qaiser Iqbal Butt, Dr Mubasher Rathore, DHQ Hospital MS Dr Ali Muhammad and PMA president Dr Zahid Mehmood Mian, started from the civil hospital and terminated at the DCO office.
The protesters chanted slogans against the Danish government.
They demanded that the government should sever diplomatic relations with the Danish government.
SPURIOUS SOAP:The district consumer court ordered closure of a factory for producing spurious soap, imposing Rs70,000 fine on its owner here on Tuesday.
The district coordinator officer received a complaint that one Sheikh Ashfaq was manufacturing spurious soap at a factory and was selling it with labels of famous brands in the market.
Assistant director (legal) raided the factory and seized a huge quantity of soap and manufacturing equipment from there.
The case was sent to the district consumer court judge Sohail Akram who ordered closure of the factory and imposed fine on its owner, besides forfeiting the equipment.
