FAISALABAD, March 2: The Faisalabad Electricity Supply Company (Fesco) will establish two rental power generation houses of a total of 350MW capacity which will start functioning before the summer season.

Talking to reporters here on Sunday, company chief executive Mohammad Saeed Akhtar said a 150MW rental house would be set up with the help of private sector on Samundri Road grid station.

“Construction work on the project has been started and will hopefully be accomplished ahead of summer.”

He said a powerhouse of similar nature having 200MW capacity would also be established on Sattiana Road and funds had been earmarked for the purpose.

Mr Saeed said construction work to the effect would be done by Dec 31 this year.

He said keeping in view the approaching summer season power transformers were being installed at Gatti grid station which would be completed by April. He said installation of transformers at the station would reduce load.

Mr Saeed said the company had also connected Gatti grid station to Muzaffargarh with the help of 500KV transmission line to provide relief to consumers in summer. He expressed the hope that the heavy transmission line would be functional within two months.

To a query about loadshedding predicament, he said the Fesco had considerably controlled the problem, however, water scarcity could bring about some disruption.

He said the company had chalked out a load management programme with the consultation of trade bodies.
