ISLAMABAD, March 1: An 18-member squad, including 11 male and four female swimmers along with three officials, will represent Pakistan in the FINA World Swimming Championship to be held at Manchester, England, from April 9 to 13.
This was stated by Secretary, Pakistan Swimming Federation Maj Majid Wasim after the Executive Committee and General Council meeting of the Federation here on Saturday.
Rohail Waqar (Punjab) and Adil Baig (Pakistan Army) represented the players during the meeting with Shan Muhammad (Punjab), Abdul Rehman (NWFP), Mazhar Naqvi (Sindh) and Kiran Khan (women) to attend the meeting in the coming years.
The girls selected for the championship are Kiran Khan, Ghulam Sakina, Aqsa Tariq and Isha Khan while the boys included in the squad are Adil Baig, Sikandar Khan, Shehbaz, Mazhar Naqvi, Hanif Anwar, Mustafa Naqvi, Ghulam Khan, Bassir Hussain, Abdul Rehman, Waqas and 13-year-old Faisal Bhatti, who is currently residing in London but is a Pakistan national.
The squad is currently busy training for the event at Islamabad, Karachi and Lahore.—APP
