QUETTA, Feb 28: Delegations of PML-Q and PPP separately met Maulana Abdul Wasay, the parliamentary leader of JUI-F, to seek support for forming the government in the province.

Maulana Wasay told Dawn on Thursday night that the PPP delegation led by Nawabzada Lashkari Raisani sought support for a PPP-led government.

Former chief minister Jam Muhammad Yousuf and former federal minister of state Mir Naseer Mengal also discussed the issue of government formation.

He said he had told Jam Yousuf that the PML-Q should first elect its parliamentary leader.

In another development, the PPP secured the support of Agha Irfan Karim elected from PB-36 Kalat as an independent candidate.

The PPP has formed a five-member committee for talks with other parties.

The committee comprises Nawabzada Lashkari Khan Raisani, Shafiq A. Khan, Saifullah Paracha, Mir Baz Khan Khetran and Sardar Wazir Muhammad Jogezai.

Meanwhile, a meeting of the PML-Q parliamentary party held on Thursady could not elect a leader and the party chief, Chaudhry Shujaat Hussain, is likely to meet the members in a couple of days to help them in this connection.
