LAHORE, Feb 25: While the cases of indiscipline against paceman Shoaib Akhtar and leg-spinner Danish Kaneria have been handed over to the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) disciplinary committee on Monday, senior batsman Mohammad Yousuf have managed to escape charges over a similar offence.

“The cases of Shoaib and Kaneria are now with the PCB disciplinary committee which will take a decision before the PCB Governing Board meeting scheduled for March 8,” the PCB chairman Dr Nasim Ashraf told reporters here on Monday.

Both Shoaib and Kaneria have been charged for criticising the PCB in their press statements last week. However, Yousuf who also blamed the Pakistan and Indian cricket boards for spoiling his auction at the Indian Premier League (IPL) in India last week, is yet to be labelled with any charge for his outburst.

“I did not read any such statement from Yousuf,” said the PCB chief when reminded about the same. The chairman emhpasised that the players must report their grievances to the PCB before taking the matter to the national press.

He said both Shoaib and Kaneria had replied to the PCB notices served on them last week.

Meanwhile, the chairman said the next meeting of the Governing Board would decided on the two vacant posts of chief financial officer and the director cricket operations (Domestic) for which the names have almost been finalised.

The CFO’s seat has been lying vacant since Hasan Ahmad resigned from the post some four months ago. The post of DCO domestic has recently been created by the PCB.

The chairman also hailed the performance of the national women’s team which qualified for the World Cup despite losing the final of the qualifying round to South Africa on Sunday.

He said more facilities will be provided to the women cricketers to field a strong outfit in the main round of the World Cup which will be held in Australia in March 2009.

He said Pakistan Under-19 team was also well on its way to defend its World Cup title for the third consecutive time in Kuala Lumpur after reaching the semi-finals, winning the quarter-final against Australia by six wickets.

He said the pension to the old Test cricketers has been released on Monday for two months (Jan and Feb).
