PESHAWAR, Feb 25: Six people were killed and around 20 others sustained injuries in two separate traffic accidents.

Five people were killed, while ten others received serious injuries when a passenger coach collided with an oil tanker near Naimatabad on Indus Highway here on Monday.

An official said that the death toll might rise as the condition of several injured persons was critical. “An oil tanker ran over a Serai Naurang-bound Hiace coach (PRT-6108) near Naimatabad, killing five passengers on the spot,” the official said. The injured persons have been shifted to civil hospital Naurang.

Names of those killed could not be ascertained. The injured included Umar Khan, Pasham Khan, Qader, Muhammad Raza, Sehrgul, Abdul Rab, Gul Rehman, a minor girl Samina Naz and a woman.

Our correspondent adds from Mansehra: One supporter of the Awami National Party (ANP) was killed and another 10 sustained serious injuries when their vehicle plunged into deep ravine near Kala Dhaka late Sunday night.

The ANP workers were on their way back to Kala Dhaka from Darband in a passenger jeep following their meeting with ANP’s MPA-elect Nimroz Khan.
