All bankers final in polo championship

LAHORE, Feb 22: ABN Amro Bank and defending champions Bank Alfalah marched into the final of the national polo championship at the end of the league stage here on Friday.

Although ABN Amro lost their last match to Lindt Chocolate by a big margin of 10-5, they still ended up at the top with 10 points from their six encounters — five won and one lost.

For ABN Amro, Hissam Ali Hyder and Jose Rivas contributed two goals apiece. Sufi Mohammad Aamir struck one.For Lindt Chocolate, Ignacio Toccalino scored five goals and Saqib Khan Khakwani and Ahmed Zubair added two each. Mian Hussain Iftikhar chipped in with one goal.

Bank Alfalah also lost the last match to LG/Rangers 10-6 to finish as the runner-up with eight points after winning four of their six matches.

For LG/Rangers, Julio Novillo Astrada (6), Atif Tiwana (3) were the main scorers. Kashif Jamal added one.

Juan Garcia Grossi (5) and Shah Qubilai Alam (1) reduced the margin for Bank Alfalah.
