Australia-BD Tests rescheduled

SYDNEY, Feb 21: Australia’s two-Test series with Bangladesh has been rescheduled to mid-2010 to avoid conflicting with the Beijing Olympics, Cricket Australia (CA) said on Thursday.

Representatives from CA and the Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) met during International Cricket Council (ICC) meetings in Kuala Lumpur and agreed to stage the Tests in July and August 2010 in northern Australia, CA said in a statement.

The series was originally set for August this year but was postponed because of a scheduling conflict with the Aug 8-24 Olympic Games, CA said.

“Through the BCB cooperation we’ve been able to reschedule the Test series between Australia and Bangladesh for the middle of 2010 when both teams have no other obligations under the Future Tours Programme (FTP),” CA General Manager Michael Brown said.

“The decision to delay this year’s scheduled Tests due to the Beijing Olympics was taken to ensure that the series received its due recognition from the media and cricketing public.”
