LAHORE, Feb 20: The Punjab chief secretary has directed all district heads and police chiefs in the province to continue discharging their duties during the transitional period.

In a circular issued to all the district coordination officers (DCOs) and district police officers (DPOs) on Wednesday, Chief Secretary Salman Siddique said: “As we await the formation of new governments at federal and provincial levels, let me remind you that an administrator’s job is never over.

Since you continue to be in administrative command, I expect each one of you and your subordinates to continue discharging your duties and obligations towards the people of the province.

“While a strategic agenda will be prescribed by the new government on assumption of office, it is our responsibility to ensure that there is continuity in governance in all areas of our responsibility.

“Among other aspects, please do keep special focus on maintenance of law and order and crime control, keeping watch on supply and prices of essential commodities, especially distribution of wheat flour,” the circular added.
