GUJRAT, April 12: The fresh delimitation to national and provincial constituencies in the district has become a worry for the local PPP leaders.
Sources told Dawn on Friday that NA 105 (previously NA 81), which was the constituency of former federal minister and PPP Secretary-General Chaudhry Ahmad Mukhtar, had been totally disturbed.
They said the constituencies like NA 104, 105, 106 and some of the provincial seats had been disturbed by the election commission on the dictation of some PML-QA leaders who had proposed the change in view of previous elections results.
The new delimitation to NA 105 (constituency of Chaudhry Ahmad Mukhtar) revealed that at least 15 patwar circles, having 75 to 90 villages and with maximum PPP votes, had been excluded from the constituency and they had been included in NA 104 and NA 106, sources said.
They maintained about seven patwar circles of NA 104, which had a majority of PML-QA votes, had been included in NA 105 to strengthen the position of former interior minister Chaudhry Shujaat Husain who would contest with candidate of Mr Mukhtar.
The patwar circles, which had been excluded from NA 105, included Adowal, Deona Mandi, Moosa Kamala, Jhandanwala, Shahabdiwal, Chak Pindi, Ditaywal, Gorsi, Machiana, Thathapur, Nagarrianwala, Sabowal I & II, Gillanwala, Chak Bhola and Madina, they added.
They said the circles included in NA 105 were Sook Kalan, Gorali, Dheerkay, Hanjra, Noora Mandiala, Ladha Sadha and Sheikhpur.
According to the rules and regulations, it was learnt that if any constituency required amendments, the whole of the qanoongoi should be excluded or included, a lawyer said.
However, in NA 105, sources said several patwar circles, including Madina and Adowal, had also been disturbed after violation of the rules.
The boundaries of the provincial seats from this area had been kept according to the previous delimitation, although, the delimitations of NA 104, 105 and 106 had been changed, they concluded.
