ISLAMABAD, April 12: The decision regarding the right of overseas Pakistanis to cast their votes will be taken soon in consultation with the Foreign Office, keeping in view the requirements of the national interests.

Chief Election Commissioner Irshad Hasan Khan stated this during his meeting with a three-member delegation of the Federation of World Wide Overseas Pakistanis, led by its president, Mir Riyasat Ali Mir, here on Friday.

The delegates submitted proposals with regard to the overseas Pakistanis’ right to vote. They said Pakistanis abroad were very conscious of the importance of the right to vote.

They called for taking steps to create awareness among the Pakistani expatriates about the importance of vote in order to activate them to fully participate in the polling to be held for the referendum on April 30 and the general election in October.—APP
