MIRPURKHAS, Feb 15: The rates of general commodities have increased due shortage of stuff following impounding of trucks, buses, coaches, Datsun pickups, mini trucks etc., by police in the defunct Mirpurkhas division.

Reports said there was acute shortage of sugar, rice, flour, ghee in over 200 Utility Stores of Mirpurkhas, Umerkot and Tharparkar districts because police impounded vehicles which normally supply commodities to Utility Stores. However, impounded vehicles were busy in transporting election material and staff to polling stations. People who buy these commodities on subsidized rates from the Utility Stores were facing hardships and compelled to buy from shops at higher rates.

They demanded of the government to ensure availability of general commodities at Utility Stores in these districts.

INJURED: Two motorcyclists were seriously injured near Sindhri Airport here on Friday.

Hospital sources said a speedy car collided with a motorcycle as result of which two motorcyclists Faisal and Abbas sustained serious injuries, and were rushed to the Civil Hospital Mirpurkhas.
