NAUSHAHRO FEROZE, Feb 15: The People’s Party has criticised the appointment of 800 people by district police for two-day to perform election duties here on Friday.

The SP investigation, Gul Mohammad Shar, told Dawn that the district police have appointed 800 people for two days to perform election duties. They will be paid Rs200 per day.

He said the DPO was sick and on leave.

He said that five police officials would be deputed at each polling station and in all, 300 police officials would be deployed while the army and the Rangers would be patrolling and could be called in whenever needed.

Sources said that 100 army personnel were present in Moro, 82 in Kandiaro and 47 at Naushahro Feroze areas.

The PPP candidate for NA-212 seat, Syed Zafar Ali Shah, said that 800 men appointed for election duty were actually the “ghunda force” to favour PPP opponent candidates who would definitely create law and order situation during polling.

He said he had informed the election commissioner, who also had sent a letter to Sindh chief secretary but nothing has been done in this regard.

He further said that he had intimated to the observers of the European Union about that.

The PPP candidate said that SHOs of Korai and Tagar police stations were shuffled during last four days.
