PESHAWAR, Feb 14: A committee, constituted by the caretaker provincial set-up for reforms in the revenue system, has recommended several measures for overhauling the revenue department.

The committee for restructuring of the revenue department and computerisation of land record approved a number of recommendations at a meeting held here on Thursday under NWFP Minister for Finance, Planning and Development Mohammad Azam Khan.

It recommended upgradation of posts of Patwaris from grade 5 to 9 and that of Gardawars from grade 9 to 11 and proposed a special computer allowance for them.

Likewise, the committee approved establishment of a revenue training academy, increasing revenue staff, revising service rules and streamlining monitoring and inspection of revenue affairs under the revenue appellate court.

It proposed establishment of a separate cell for planning, research, law and database. It also recommended setting up cluster Patwar buildings comprising eight to 10 Patwarkhanas under Gardawar circles.
