RAWALPINDI, Feb 13: Security agencies have been directed to step up vigilance in Lahore following intelligence reports that a suicide bomber has set out from Waziristan for the city.

Sources said that the Punjab police inspector-general, chief secretary and heads of intelligence agencies in Lahore had been asked to take precautionary measures and trace the suspect carrying a suicide vest.

They said the man was slim and tall, sported thick beard and wore glasses.

The Election Commission also asked the Islamabad police on Tuesday to enhance security, saying that its head office was vulnerable to terrorist attacks.
