Lawyers boycott courts

HYDERABAD, Feb 7: A full day weekly boycott of courts by lawyers on Thursday coincided with the chehlum of Ms Benazir Bhutto as lawyers also held a commemorative meeting of High Court Bar Association (HCBA) Hyderabad here.

Lawyers also boycotted civil, sessions and high court proceedings to protest against the detention of judges and lawyers and demanded the restoration of independence of judiciary.

In Mirpurkhas, lawyers led by district bar association president Salahuddin Panhwar boycotted the court proceedings to protest against the detention of judges and lawyers.

They took out a rally from the bar, carried banners and placards, while raising slogans for release of detained judges and lawyers.

They condemned the government and demanded a complete independence of judiciary. They marched through main roads of the city.

In Sukkur, the lawyers’ community boycotted court proceedings and took out a protest rally and staged a demonstration on Minara road.
