The incident came to light when some children of the area felt stinking smell coming out of the house at Madina Town where Shahnaz, a widow, along with her son Mohammad Farooq, 21, and 22-year-old daughter Atiya Munir lived.
Mohammad Younus, the brother of Shahnaz who lived nearby, arrived at the house and found the gate locked. After failing to get response from inside, he contacted his relatives to inquire about his sister but to no avail.
Later, he informed the police who along with Rescue-1122 staff reached the house. The police entered the house by scaling the wall and found the woman and her two children dead and the room filled with gas.
A doctor who carried out an external postmortem on the bodies said they had died about 48 hours before the incident came to light.
Later, the bodies were handed over to their relatives.
KILLED IN ACCIDENT: A 55-year-old man was killed and his son injured critically in a road accident near Morgah on Tuesday night.
Mohammad Safdar along with his son Qasim Ali, 12, was going home from hospital when a speeding car hit them on Jhelum Road.
The old man died on the spot while the injured was shifted to the District Headquarters Hospital.
Meanwhile, students and teachers were evacuated from Muslim Girls High School Ariya Mohalla on Wednesday after an anonymous caller told the principal that a powerful bomb had been planted in the building which would be detonated shortly, police said.
Shortly after the call was received, the school administration informed the police, who along with the bomb disposal experts arrived at the school and evacuated it.
The bomb disposal team of the Civil Defence started a search on the building and later declared it safe, terming the call a hoax.
