KARACHI, Feb 6: The Trade Development Authority of Pakistan (TDAP), with the assistance of United Nations Industrial Development Organisation (Unido), will send delegation of fishermen abroad to study systems adopted in storing fish catch of varying sizes and weight, with the help of insulated boxes.

In a meeting, chaired by Trade Development Authority of Pakistan chief executive Tariq Ikram and attended by the representatives of fishermen, United Nations Industrial Development Organisation and Karachi Shipyard and Engineering Works here on Wednesday, it transpired that a mechanism was needed for storing catch of varying sizes, and for this a delegation would have to be sent to countries faced with the similar problem.

It was also agreed that fishing boats should also be refurbished and improved as per international standards.Initially five boats would be taken up for upgradation and fixing of insulated boxes for storing flake ice.

On getting full data after the return of the delegation, it would be applied to 200 fishing boats to help fishermen in preserving the catch.
