ISLAMABAD, Feb 1: Chinese Ambassador Luo Zhao Hui on Friday met Pakistan Muslim League-N (PML-N) chief and former prime minister Nawaz Sharif and discussed with him the political situation in Pakistan with reference to the forthcoming general elections and the relationship between the two countries.

Chinese Political counsellor Wang Zang, coordinator of the PML-N’s Foreign Relations Committee Mohammad Mehdi, PML-N Islamabad president Dr Tariq Fazal Chaudhry and former MPA Chaudhry Tanveer were also present during the 45-minute-long meeting which took place at Frontier House.

Sources told Dawn that Mr Sharif apprised the Chinese envoy about the party’s concerns over the ongoing ‘pre-poll rigging’ and said the PML-N did not expect free and fair elections under the Musharraf regime.
