Shiraz’s effort goes in vain

KARACHI, Feb 1: Off-spinner Shiraz Ali Khan’s six-wicket haul failed to save KCCA Zone-VII from a 40-run defeat at the hands of Zone-II in a PCB Under-19 Cricket Championship (Karachi Region) match at the TMC Ground on Friday.

Chasing a 261 target, Zone-VII were dismissed for 220 in the two-day match. Both Hamid Shahid (62) and Azhar Shah (54) hit eight boundaries.

Meanwhile, hosts Nawabshah registered their first win, beating Jacobabad by five wickets at the Nawabshah Stadium, thanks to a 143-run third-wicket stand between Jawad Ali and Mohammad Majid.

Jawad made a 202-ball 93 with seven boundaries while Majid cracked eight fours during his 76.

Earlier, Jacobabad mustered 237 before being dismissed in 52.3 overs with Ghulam Farooq hitting 82 and Wali Mohammad 74.
