HYDERABAD, April 9: The executive council of Sindh Agriculture University Teachers Association (SAUTA), Tando Jam, at a meeting held here on Tuesday, condemned Vice Chancellor Dr Bashir Ahmed Chandio for installing hidden cameras in the meeting hall of the syndicate on April 6.

The vice chancellor had installed the cameras through the administration director, Syed Khalid Murad, and his son, Abdus Samad Chandio, an assistant professor of agricultural engineering.

The meeting said that when this was pointed out by the teacher members of the syndicate during the meeting and objections were raised, the vice chancellor first showed his ignorance but later on said that it was done to maintain the record of the proceedings.

The meeting noted that finally, the vice chancellor apologized and the cameras were removed.

The meeting strongly supported the vote of dissent, recorded by the teacher members of the syndicate, on certain items of the selection board, particularly for the posts of information technology.

The executive council requested the Sindh governor and minister for science and technology to intervene in the matter as Dr Chandio had deliberately violated the established rules and regulations for appointments at higher posts.

The council expressed deep concern over the letters issued to the office-bearers of the association and certain other senior teachers, where they had been threatened with dire consequences if they did not stop pointing out the wrong policies of the vice chancellor.

The council condemned the letters issued to professor Dr Mohammad Roshan Wagan and others whereby their present posts had been questioned on the ground that they had been upgraded.
