Imran to make a detour to UK

Published January 28, 2008

LAHORE, Jan 27: After a ‘successful’ 10-day tour of the US, Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf chairman Imran Khan will be proceeding on a personal visit to the United Kingdom before returning to Pakistan to proceed with the election boycott campaign organised by the APDM.

In media dispatches sent from the US, the PTI revealed Mr Khan’s detailed discussions with the high-powered Senate group, led by Senator Harry Reid, the Senate majority leader, Senator Dick Durbin, assistant Senate majority leader, Senator Joe Biden, chairman Senate Foreign Relations Committee, and many others.

After the meeting, Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid issued a statement demanding that the US president should strengthen democratic institutions in Pakistan instead of relying on the individual capacity of President Pervez Musharraf.—SHEHAR BANO KHAN
