Shujaat offers talks for fair polls

Published January 27, 2008

ISLAMABAD, Jan 26: Chaudhry Shujaat Hussain, president of the Pakistan Muslim League (PML-Q), on Saturday invited all political leaders to discuss ways and means to ensure “impartial and peaceful” elections.

Chaudhry Shujaat, presenting a one-point “agenda of national reconciliation”, said all leaders should set aside political and ideological differences to restore the nation’s confidence in change through the ballot box.

The Election Commission should fulfil its responsibility of holding free and fair polls.

He asked political leaders to send proposals to the Election Commission on the formulation of a code of conduct.
