MIRPURKHAS: Official Assesses damage

MIRPURKHAS, Jan 25: District Coordination Officer Syed Mumtaz Ali Shah said on Friday that 148 private properties had been damaged in five talukas after Benazir Bhutto’s assassination.

Speaking at a meeting here to assess damages to private properties, he said a committee comprising revenue officials, Rangers and mukhtiarkars visited rioting sites and assessed the losses.

He said that some 122 properties in Mirpurkhas, seven in Kot Ghulam Mohammad, eleven in Jhuddo, five in Digri and three properties in taluka Sindhri had been either been damaged or set ablaze.

FIRE: A fire broke out in Old Mirpur’s Mohammad Khan Narejo village on Friday that engulfed trees and shrubs.

A fire brigade unit extinguished the fire after hectic efforts.
