LAHORE, Jan 24: Despite fine bowling by paceman Mohammad Amir and a half century from Usman Salahuddin, Pakistan Under-19 suffered a 16-run defeat at the hands of the England U-19 side on Thursday in the triangular tournament in Colombo, Sri Lanka.

Amir with a haul of four for 30 restricted England to a gettable total of 213 in 48.4 overs. B.C. Brown scored 93 off 105 balls that included nine fours and one six. D.J. Redfern with 59 remained the second best scorer.

Brown and Redfern joined hands at a precarious position of 5-44 and added 105 runs in the sixth-wicket partnership to steady the innings.

In reply, Pakistan slumped at 197 in 48.4 overs with Salah-ud-Din as the top scorer, contributing a 72-ball 56 that was studded with two sixes and one four. After making a shaky start of 97-4, Pakistan just could not recover at any stage as Salahuddin could not find notable support from the other end. Dawson took three wickets for 47 runs.
