LAHORE, Jan 23: Splendid unbeaten centuries by Ameer Hamid and Waqas Tariq and their fourth-wicket stand of 266 runs enabled North Zone Blues to beat North Zone Whites by seven wickets in the regional Inter-district Under-19 cricket tournament at the Cricket Centre ground on Wednesday.

Ameer scored 149 off 191 balls with 27 boundaries, while Waqas made a 181-ball 104 with 13 boundaries as North Zone Blues romped home scoring 311 for 3 in 68.2 overs while replying to their rival’s total of 307.

Fine batting by opener Jumma Khan (87, 16 fours, two sixes) and Najaf Latif (70 not out, 11 fours) at the LCCA ground, guided West Zone Blues to a six-wicket win over West Zone Whites.

Given a target of 216, West Zone were 217-4 in 46.1 overs.

Meanwhile Asmatullah and Ishtiaq-ur-Rehman shared six wickets equally in order to help East Zone Blues beat East Zone Whites by 32 runs at the Model Town Ground.
