KARACHI: Uplift fund

Published January 23, 2008

KARACHI, Jan 22: Residents of Keamari Town’s UC-4 comprising Baba Bhit Island, Shamspir, Younisabad and Kaka Village complained that development fund amounting to Rs13.3 million earmarked for the uplift of the islands by the former nazim had not been fully utilised.

A press statement issued by the Shamspir Fishermen Jamaat said that only Rs1.7 had been spent for supplying drinking water to Shamspir while the remaining Rs11.6 million were yet to be utilised.

It said that the amount was to be utilised for the provision of basic civic amenities to UC-4 such as water supply, electrification, sewerage networks and extension of the existing jetty in Shamspir.—Staff Reporter
