LAHORE, Jan 21: A PPP delegation led by Senator Farooq Naek will soon go to the United Nations with the request that the world body should investigate the assassination of former prime minister Benazir Bhutto, party spokesman Farhatullah Babar said on Monday.

He said two delegations, one led by Ms Sherry Rehman and the other by Dr Rehman Malik, had already reached the United States and Norway to seek support for the demand.

President Pervez Musharraf and the government say that the Scotland Yard team was competent enough to probe into the murder.

Mr Babar said the slain leader had informed him before the tragedy that she faced a serious threat to her life and that when she talked to President Musharraf “he went ballistic”.

When it was pointed out that the emails sent by Ms Bhutto to Mark Siegel and British Foreign Secretary David Miliband differed in content, Mr Babar said the entire gamut of evidence should be put together for an independent investigation.
