KARACHI, April 7: According to Mumtaz Ali Bhutto, cheif of the Sindh National Front, the speech of President Pervez Musharraf about the referendum has disappointed the people.

Speaking at a party convention at a local hotel on Sunday, he said the agenda on which the SNF had extended its support to the present government had not been fulfilled.

He said that a meeting of the party’s central committee had been convened on April 11 to review the announcement made by the President for holding a referendum, he said.

He claimed that the PPP was ready to support President Musharraf but they wanted the President to hold talks with Ms Benazir Bhutto for seeking the support of the PPP in the referendum.

He recalled that the PPP did not become famous overnight but the leaders and the workers of the PPP had rendered sacrifices.

He said some people had joined his party under the impression that they would get perks and benefits but when they realized that the party had not never deviated from its manifesto, the opportunists parted their ways with the SNF and now it was a group of sincere members and workers.

He said the government had increased the expenditure by introducing the new setup of district governments; earlier a district was controlled by a deputy commissioner and now there were 12 deputy commissioner like officers in one district, which had not only confused the people but also put a burden on the national exchequer.
