HBL names squad for qualifiers

KARACHI, Jan 18: Habib Bank (HBL) on Friday announced its 17-member squad for the National Hockey Championship qualifiers starting from Jan 26 in Peshawar.

Former international Haider Hussain, who was the coach of junior HBL squad during last year’s junior championship in Faisalabad, will be coach-cum-player of the senior squad.

Four players – Adeel Hussain, Shahzad Nasir, Khurram Shahzad and Fareed Ahmad – who are currently representing Pakistan juniors at an eight-nation tournament in Malaysia, will join the squad on Jan 29.

Squad:

Imran Shah, Tariq Yamin, Rana Zubair, Mohammad Khalid, Mubashir Mukhtar (captain), Junaid Hussain, Rashid Imran (vice-captain), Haider Hussain, Azlan Khan, Shahbaz Ali, Rizwan Khan, Ijaz Khokhar, Waheed Islam, Qavi Khan, Umer Bhutta, Asad, Ijaz Rasool.

Officials: S.M. Tanveer (manager), Abdul Ghafoor (head coach), Haider Hussain (coach-cum-player).
