PESHAWAR, Jan 18: Police investigators were on Friday looking for clues to the suicide bomber who blew himself up in an imambargah here on Thursday, leaving 12 people dead and 25 others wounded.

SSP operations Syed Imtiaz Shah told Dawn that a sample from the head of the suicide bomber had been sent to Islamabad for DNA tests and an investigation was in progress.

A team of six senior police officials led by SSP investigation Ghulam Hussein has been formed to probe the case.

No arrest had been made so far, but efforts were on to find clues to the identity of the bomber, he said, adding that an identikit of the bomber was also being made.

He rejected allegations of security lapse and said the bomber had deceived the security detail by impersonating a mourner.

A case has been registered against unidentified terrorist.

Meanwhile, funerals of those killed in Thursday’s bombing were held in the city on Friday amid tight security.
