FAISALABAD, April 6: City police claimed on Saturday to have recovered a local industrialist, kidnapped for ransom a week ago.

Three armed men had kidnapped Chaudhry Afzal Naseer from his house and demanded Rs10 million for his release.

The family approached police who, on a tip-off, raided the hideout of the kidnappers in a far-flung area of the district and recovered Afzal. Five men were also arrested from the hideout.

ROAD ACCIDENT: Three people were killed in separate road accidents in Faisalabad on Saturday.

A speeding wagon hit elderly Sabir Ali while he was crossing Faisalabad-Satiana Road. He died on the spot.

A retired government employee, Tufail Ahmad, was hit by a bus on Faisalabad-Sheikhupura Road, when he was going to receive his pension from a local bank.

A truck hit a minor boy, Piran Ditta, and his father when they were going to their home after attending a religious gathering in Chak No 630 GB.

The two were taken to a nearby hospital where Piran Ditta died due to excessive bleeding while the condition of his father was stated to be critical.

Local police registered cases against absconding drivers.
