DADU, Jan 17: Office-bearers of the Jeay Sindh Qaumi Mahaz (JSQM) were elected here on Thursday.
Bashir Khan Qureshi was elected as JSQM’s chairman, Wali Mohammad Rahmoon as senior vice-chairman, Akash Mallah as the party’s vice-chairman, Dr Safdar Sarki as general secretary, Zafar Ahmed Korejo as deputy general secretary, Imdad Mangi as joint secretary, Naeem Mandhro as treasurer, Dr Najaf Leghari culture secretary and Sagar Hanif Burdi as press secretary.
Sharif Phull acted as the party’s election commissioner.
Meanwhile, the 104th birth anniversary of founder of Jeay Sindh Tehrik G. M. Syed was observed in Sann with simplicity.
The programme had been toned down to express sorrow at the death of PPP chairperson Benazir Bhutto and the daughter of GM Syed, Jiji Zarin Taj.
Bashir Khan Qureshi, accompanied by Dr Niaz Kalani and Hanif Sagar Burdi, laid floral wreaths at the nationalist leader’s grave and offered Fateha.
A number of supporters from across the province arrived here, bearing the party’s flag.
A delegation of the JSQM’s organising committee, led by Abdul Wahid Arisar and the committee’s chairman, Shafi Mohammad Karnani, Serai Qurban Khuhawar Riaz Chandio, Rooplo Choliani and Surhia Sindhi visited the mausoleum. Chairman of a faction of the Jeay Sindh Mahaz Abdul Khaliq Junejo also offered Fateha.
G.M. Syed’s family members, including Syed Amir Haider Shah, Jalal Mehmood Shah and Zain Shah also laid floral wreaths.
Quran Khawani was held at the residence of G.M. Syed.
Leader of the Jeay Sindh Tehrik Mir Alam Mari and Jeay Sindh Qaum Parast Party leader Qamar Bhatti also offered Fateha.
