ISLAMABAD, April 6: More than 50 schools are likely to participate in the World Wildlife Fund (WWF) Nature Carnival 2002, a children extravaganza to be held at Fatima Jinnah Park on Sunday.

The event is being organized in collaboration with Dawn and Shell petroleum. The event has become a permanent feature, organized every year in Islamabad, Lahore and Karachi. It would be an opportunity for schoolchildren to participate in some interesting activities, a member of the organizing committee said.

He said the schoolchildren would take part in creative activities that would enhance their ability to understand various conservative projects. The organizing committee member said the children would have to develop three dimensional models on environmental themes to be displayed at the exhibition. The themes have been allocated on a class/age basis. These themes are mountains of Pakistan for class 1-2; Indus dolphin and its habits for class 3-4; wetlands of Pakistan for class 5-6; hazards of air pollution for class 7-8 and say no to bear baiting for class 9-10.

He said schools could select one or more themes to prepare three dimensional models. A school may take up all five themes for exhibit development, he added.

He said fun fair, lucky draw, puppet show, fancy dress show, customised games, environmental quiz and musical performance would also be arranged.
